Traveling to Rome and Florence is like stepping into a living museum of art, history, and culture. In Rome, the ancient ruins of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon stand as testaments to the city's rich past. Florence, on the other hand, is a treasure trove of Renaissance art and architecture, with masterpieces by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli awaiting around every corner. Both cities offer a culinary journey through Italy's renowned cuisine, with trattorias and gelaterias serving up traditional dishes and delicious treats. With its stunning architecture, rich history, and exquisite art, a trip to Rome and Florence promises an unforgettable experience for any traveler.

Trip pricing will vary based on your trip dates, origin airport, group size, other special requests and final customized itinerary.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart for Rome

Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare (the general recommendation is to arrive 3 hours early for international flights). Depart Home Airport on an overnight flight; don’t forget your passport! (Sleep on the plane)

Day 2 - Arrive in Rome, Travel to Florence

Arrive at Rome-Fiumicino Airport (FCO). After collecting your bags, you will meet your ActivSport Travel trip leader outside the secured area. From there, we will load onto our coach bus and drive to Florence (4 hours). After checking in to our hotel, we will have a brief orientation of the city, time to explore and relax before dinner.

Day 3 - Discover Florence

Start the day with a bike tour to see the best sites Florence has to offer in just a few hours, including the famous Dome of Brunelleschi and Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). After the tour, we will have free time for lunch to explore the city.

Day 4 - Tuscan Towns

In the morning, we will visit San Gimignano. Known as the Town of Fine Towers, San Gimignano is famous for its medieval architecture. We will then head to Casa Emma, where we will dive deep into the flavors of the Tuscan local cuisine. At the end of the tour, we will have a private tasting featuring a selection of wines or olive oils paired with a three-course lunch, prepared following a seasonal menu. After, we will head to Siena, known for its well-preserved historic center with its architecture and ancient streets. Free time for exploration and dinner before returning back to the hotel.

Day 5 - Travel to Rome

After breakfast, we will embark on a high-speed train, departing Florence S.M Novella train station in the late morninh. Arrive at Rome’s Termini station after about two hours. Transfer to our hotel, where we will check-in.

Day 6- Trevi Fountain

Breakfast. Morning free time. In the afternoon, we will have a walking orientation of central Rome, including sites like the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Campo di Fiore, and Piazza Navona.

Day 7 - Colosseum, Roman Forum

After breakfast, we will head to Rome’s most iconic sites; the Colosseum and the Roman Forum for a guided visit into some of Rome’s most fascinating history.

Day 8 - Vatican City

Morning visit to Vatican City, including Michaelangelo’s spectacular Sistine Chapel at the Vatican Museums, & the enormous and ornate St. Peter's Basilica. Afternoon free time to explore the city. Farewell dinner together in the evening.

Day 9 - Travel Home

Fly from Rome back to the USA.

What’s Included

Trip Leader Services

Full-time Trip Leaders assigned to your group for the duration of the trip and available to answer questions, handle emergencies, etc.

Airfare

Round trip airfare, including taxes, fuel surcharges, and fees (package w/o flights available if you would prefer to purchase your own airfare).

Two Meals a Day

Breakfast at your hotel each, and either a lunch or dinner each day are included.

Guided Tours/Activities

All guided tours/activities (including entrance fees) to cultural/historic sites, museums, and other points of interest as listed are included throughout the tour.

Sports Expenses

All sport related expenses (sport facilities, referees, and other associated costs).

Other Meals

One meal per day is not included to provide you with the opportunity to explore and select your own local food.

Ground Transportation

All ground transportation costs upon arrival (including fuel surcharges, tolls, and parking).

Accommodations

Accommodation each night at 3-star equivalent properties in double or triple occupancy.

What’s Not Included

Gratuity

Tips for ActivSport Trip Leaders, bus drivers, and/or local guides.

Professional Sports Tickets

Tickets to professional sporting events. These can be included once schedules and pricing are released. The group can decide what to attend based on that information.

Incidentals

All incidentals including, but not limited to, phone calls, laundry, shopping, and additional sightseeing not on the itinerary.
