Travel insurance

Insurance is not included in your trip price, and we recommend every traveler carry it. On a group trip, one uncovered incident can cost more than the policy would have for the entire roster.

What a policy protects

The scenarios that actually happen

Over nearly twenty years of group travel, these are the situations we have seen — and the reason we raise insurance in every planning conversation rather than burying it in a document.

  • Trip cancellation for unexpected events
  • Illness or injury while abroad
  • An early return home
  • Lost or delayed luggage
  • Damaged or stolen sports equipment
  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Flight delays
  • A lost passport

How to arrange it

Three things to know before you buy

We are not an insurance provider and cannot advise on individual policies. What follows is practical guidance for group organizers.

Buy early

Most cancellation benefits, and any pre-existing-condition waiver, depend on purchasing within a short window after your first trip payment.

Check sports coverage

Some policies exclude organized competition or specific activities. Read the sport and adventure-activity clauses before your roster buys.

Insure the whole group

Partial coverage is where problems appear. We recommend the same policy across the traveling party, including staff and chaperones.

Our referral partner

We link travelers to Travel Guard, which has handled coverage for our groups. Purchasing is between you and the insurer, and the policy terms, coverage decisions and claims are theirs — review the certificate carefully before buying.

Cancellation fees, payment schedules and traveler responsibilities are set out in our terms and conditions.
