Basketball team on an ActivSport Travel international tour

Basketball

Basketball is a European religion. Go find out.

Games against club sides that have been playing organized ball since your program was founded, a Euroleague night that will rearrange what your players think a crowd can sound like, and a country to explore between them.

Outdoor basketball court in a European city

Why it matters

Why a basketball program travels internationally

European basketball is a different game: more spacing, more passing, more discipline off the ball, and referees who let a very different kind of physicality go. Playing three or four games against club sides forces adjustments that scrimmages at home never demand.

The crowds are the other education. In Belgrade, Athens, Barcelona or Bologna, a regular-season club game runs at a volume American players have usually only felt in a conference tournament. Watching that, then playing in front of a fraction of it, changes how a roster carries itself.

Then there is the part coaches mention most afterward: eight days of shared meals, long walks, and no phones-in-the-dorm isolation. Teams come back with a chemistry that shortens the first month of the season.

What's on the itinerary

What a basketball trip can include

Every itinerary is built from scratch for your group. These are the components we combine most often.

Games against local clubs

Two to four fixtures against club or academy sides matched honestly to your level, arranged through our own network.

Professional games

Tickets to a top-division or Euroleague night where the schedule allows — the moment most players remember first.

Training and clinics

Practice slots in local gyms, often shared with club coaches, plus optional clinics with youth academy sides.

Arena and club visits

Behind-the-scenes access to club facilities and time with staff and development programs.

Cultural program

Food, language, history and the smaller towns around the gateway city — half of why the trip works.

Full logistics

Group air, transfers, hotels, most meals, guides, gym times, laundry and support on the ground.

Featured destinations

Where basketball groups travel

The strongest basketball cultures in the world outside the US are within a week's itinerary. Most groups pick one country and two cities.

Sample experience concept

Nine days in Spain: Barcelona and Girona

An illustrative concept for a college or high school program traveling over a semester break — three club games, one professional night.

  1. Days 1–2

    Arrive Barcelona

Light shootaround, walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and market lunch, early night to reset the clock.

  2. Day 3

    First game

Fixture against a Catalan club, dinner hosted with the opposing side.

  3. Days 4–5

    Pro night & culture

Morning practice, Sagrada Família and Montjuïc, then a top-division league game in the evening.

  4. Days 6–7

    Girona

Second game inland, medieval old town, cooking session with a local family.

  5. Days 8–9

    Coast & return

Third game, an afternoon on the Costa Brava, closing team dinner, morning flight home.

An illustrative concept only — not a fixed product. Your actual itinerary, fixtures and pricing are built around your group’s goals, level and budget.

Why ActivSport

Why basketball programs work with us

Sports team travel is our primary business, not a side product. We plan it in-house, and a real planner reads and answers every inquiry.

Opponents matched honestly

We tell you what level a club actually plays at. A 40-point blowout in either direction wastes the trip.

Gym time that's real

Practice slots, ball access, medical contacts and travel windows are locked before the itinerary is priced.

The pro night is planned around

League calendars move. We build the trip around the fixture list rather than promising a game we can't confirm.

One price, itemized

All-inclusive per traveler with inclusions spelled out, plus fundraising support if the roster needs it.
