Chamonix and Lyon in France offer a delightful combination of skiing and wine, making it an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts and wine connoisseurs alike.

Chamonix:

  • Skiing: Chamonix is renowned for its challenging slopes and stunning scenery, with the Mont Blanc massif providing a dramatic backdrop. The resort offers a variety of runs for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers.

  • Après-ski: After a day on the slopes, relax and unwind in Chamonix's charming village, known for its cozy cafes, lively bars, and gourmet restaurants.

  • Adventure: For the more adventurous, Chamonix offers off-piste skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, and paragliding, providing an adrenaline-filled experience.

Lyon:

  • Wine Tasting: Lyon is the gateway to the famous wine regions of Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône, known for their exquisite wines. Take a wine tour and indulge in tastings of the region's finest wines.

  • Culinary Delights: Lyon is renowned as the gastronomic capital of France, offering a plethora of Michelin-starred restaurants, traditional bouchons (local eateries), and gourmet markets.

  • Culture and History: Explore Lyon's rich cultural heritage, including its UNESCO-listed Old Town, ancient Roman ruins, and stunning Renaissance architecture.

Combining skiing in Chamonix with wine tasting in Lyon offers a unique and unforgettable experience, blending outdoor adventure with culinary delights and cultural exploration.

Trip Cost (per person/flights not included):

Without a ski pass - $2200 per person (Ikon Pass holders/non-skiers)

With a four-day ski pass - $2500 per person (including local ski pass: MontBlanc Unlimited)

Trip Itinerary

March 14 - Travel to Geneva

Depart your home airport and travel to Geneva (GVA). The general recommendation is to arrive 2-3 hours early for international flights). Don’t forget your passport! (Overnight flight, sleep on the plane)

March 15 - Arrival Day

Land in Geneva (GVA). Take your transfer to Chamonix, where an ActivSport Travel member will be awaiting your arrival. You will get checked in to the accommodations and, if time permits, get your passes and gear in town.

March 16 - Ski Brevent

Today, ActivSport staff will be skiing at Brevent ski resort. You are welcome to join the staff or ski/adventure on your own.

Dinner Reservation in the evening as a group to welcome everyone.

March 17 - Courmayer, Italy

Today we will take the bus on a short trip to Courmayer, Italy and spend the day skiing/riding. Group lunch reservation on a mid-mountain restaurant.

March 18 - La Vallee Blanche or Le Tour

For those looking for a great adventure and ski challenge, today we will take the Aiguille du Midi to La Vallee Blanche, where we will hike across peak and ski/ride down the glacier (for advance skiers/riders only). Others can enjoy a day at Le Tour.

March 19 - Flegere

Today, ActivSport staff will be skiing at Flegere ski resort. You are welcome to join the staff or ski/adventure on your own.

In the evening, return your gear and prepare to travel to Lyon the next morning.

March 20 - Travel to Lyon

Today we transfer to Geneva, where we will take a train to Lyon where we can explore Lyon's rich cultural heritage, including its UNESCO-listed Old Town, ancient Roman ruins, and stunning Renaissance architecture.

March 21 - Wine tour/tasting

After breakfast, we will travel to a local Lyon vineyard where we will get a glimpse into the art of wine making. While visiting we will also sample some local wines.

In the afternoon, we will partake a in a local gastro experience and further enhance our pallet and sample more local wines.

March 22 - Fly Home

Depart Lyon (LYS) to fly home or “Stay On” to extend your trip!

Since this is an independent trip, you may make reservations to fly home or extend your stay, but any additions are not included in the group rate.

 What’s Included

Lift Passes

Six-day Mont-Blanc Unlimited ski passes, valid at all the resorts in the Chamonix Valley (including the Aiguille du Midi and Montenvers - Mer de Glace train), as well as at Courmayeur in Italy, are included if you select the option that includes ski passes. (Not needed if you have an Ikon Pass)

Airport Transfer

Airport transfer from Geneva to Chamonix and to Lyon.

Ground Transportation

Local city buses included with lift tickets. Bus ticket to Courmayer included in package.

Winery Visits/Tastings

Visits to Lyon winery and tastings.

ASTravel Staff

24/7 access to an ActivSport Travel staff member to assist with making your trip memorable.

Accommodations

Shared accommodations in apartment-suite style rooming, complete with kitchen area.

What’s Not Included

Meals

Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are not included. Your apartment contains a small kitchen to cook your own meals or you can explore the culinary options of the town! We will reserve space for the group to eat together, but individuals are responsible for costs.

Security Deposit

A security deposit will be held until you depart and will not be charged as long as you leave the property in the condition you found it.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance to cover cancelations or any unexpected emergencies is available through our partner, Travel Guard, at an additional cost.

Flights

Flights are not included in the price. We recommend flying to Geneva Airport for the best ground connections to Chamonix. On the departure, we recommend departing from Lyon, but you can transfer to Geneva for a flight (additional ground transfer cost). Once you have booked your flight, please submit your itinerary information using this form.

Ski Lessons

We recommend booking with ESF in Chamonix, which you can do here.

Ski Guide

We recommend booking a guide for some off-piste ski routes to keep you safe. Depending on the number of people interested, we will look into arranging one during the trip.

Add-Ons

La Vallee Blanche

For those looking for a great adventure and ski challenge, we will take the Aiguille du Midi to La Vallee Blanche, where we will hike across peak and ski/ride down the glacier (for advance skiers/riders only).

Equipment Rentals

If you want to rent ski or snowboard equipment, we are happy to set that up for you with our partners at Skiset, just 150m from the Cristal de Jade. The cost depends on the equipment you need and the number of days. Click here to see pricing and to request a rental reservation.

Paragliding

If skiing/riding hasn’t been enough for you, take a break from gliding down the slopes to launch off peak with a tandem paragliding experience.

Room Upgrades

Rooms/suites will be shared amongst members of the group. If you prefer to have a suite to yourself, you may pay for an upgrade.
