About the Trip

This is a custom ActivSport Travel trip created for players and their friends/family from the University of Southern Maine Women’s Soccer Team to sightsee in and around Barcelona and Madrid, Spain in August 2025. Whether we start in Barcelona or Madrid will be based on flight schedule, game schedule, and final itinerary. Trip starts in one city and ends in the other.

Pricing quote valid through January 31, 2025: (includes 2 free spots for coaches/staff)

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart from Boston

Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare (the general recommendation is to arrive 2-3 hours early for international flights). Depart Boston (BOS); don’t forget your passport! (Sleep on the plane)

Day 2 - Arrival Day

Land in Barcelona (BCN). Your ActivSport Travel trip leaders will wait for you outside the secured area (after you collect your luggage). Transfer to our hotel to drop bags/check in depending on arrival time. After, we will have some light activities along with time to rest after the long flight. Team welcome dinner.

*Note: Based on the 2025 La Liga schedule we will attend a match Saturday, Sunday, or Monday in/around Barcelona. Teams include FC Barcelona, Girona, & Espanyol.

Day 3 -Barcelona Bike Tour

Today we will take a leisurely bike tour of the beautiful city of Barcelona. Highlights include the historic city center, Guadi’s Sagrada Familia, Barcelonetta beach, and more! After lunch you will have time to visit the famous La Rambla, the market, and free time for shopping and exploring.

Day 4 - FC Barcelona Tour & Game #1

In the morning, we will head to Camp Nou, home to FC Barcelona, for a stadium tour and a visit to their legendary club museum. After, lunch we will have some time to explore and relax prior to our first game.

Day 5 - Montjuic, Olympic Village, Game #2

We will start our day with a visit to the Olympic Museum, featuring the 1992 Olympic games as well as other key moments in Olympic history, as well as the Olympic park. After, we will visit Montjuic castle.

Day 6 - Travel to Madrid, Madrid City Tour

We will head from Barcelona to Madrid via high-speed train (2.5 hours) in the morning, arriving mid day. After stopping by our hotel to drop bags/check in, we will take a guided walking tour of Madrid. From the capital of the world’s largest empire, to the dark heart of the Spanish Inquisition, this beautiful cosmopolitan city is home to culture, nightlife, and an energy you can feel as soon as you arrive. Highlights include the Royal Palace, Mercado de San Miguel, and the Almudena Cathedral.

Day 7- Real Madrid Museum & Game #3

Today we will head to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, where we will tour one of the world’s most famous stadiums and visit the Real Madrid museum! After lunch, you will have time for exploration, last day in Madrid shopping, etc. prior to our last game.

Day 8- Toledo Day Trip

After breakfast, we will depart Madrid and head to the nearby city of Toledo (1 hour by train). Toledo is a gorgeous place to see. With its majestic castle perched on a rocky bluff, Gothic cathedrals and winding cobblestone streets, the town looks magical, like out of a fairy tale. After we will return to Madrid for our farewell team dinner.

Day 9 -Travel Day

Fly from Madrid back to Boston.

What’s Included

Trip Leader Services

Full-time Trip Leaders assigned to your group for the duration of the trip and available to answer questions, handle emergencies, etc.

Airfare

Round trip airfare, including taxes, fuel surcharges, and fees (package w/o flights available if you would prefer to purchase your own airfare).

Two Meals a Day

Breakfast at your hotel each, and either a lunch or dinner each day are included.

Guided Tours/Activities

All guided tours/activities (including entrance fees) to cultural/historic sites, museums, and other points of interest as listed are included throughout the tour.

Sports Expenses

All sport related expenses (sport facilities, referees, and other associated costs).

Other Meals

One meal per day is not included to provide you with the opportunity to explore and select your own local food.

Ground Transportation

All ground transportation costs upon arrival (including fuel surcharges, tolls, and parking).

Accommodations

Accommodation each night at 3-star equivalent properties in double or triple occupancy.

Professional Sports Tickets

Tickets to professional sporting events. These can be included once schedules and pricing are released. The group can decide what to attend based on that information.

Incidentals

All incidentals including, but not limited to, phone calls, laundry, shopping, and additional sightseeing not on the itinerary.
